So, how many days left until prom? Not many! By now you probably have your dress—unless you’re a last-minute shopper like I am—but have you decided what to do with your hair? Hairstylist to the stars Gregory Alan is here to help! He gives you the rundown of some of his fave celeb looks, and tells you how to achieve your favorite at home!
Taylor Swift: Retro Faux Bob
This faux bob hairstyle, which looks like something straight out of the roaring 20s, is great for girls with medium/long length hair. If you have a long bangs, that will also help achieve this look. First, apply a shaping mousse (I like Salon Grafix Shaping Mousse) all throughout the hair and blow dry. Then make a deep side part to really show off this retro/modern hairstyle. Take a 1 inch curling iron and curl the entire head, always making sure to wrap hair away from the face. Now take the hair in your hands and let the front layers drop forward around your face and secure the back in a bun. Finally, lock down your playful look with some John Frieda Anti Humidity Hairspray.
Miley Cyrus: Perfectly Undone Updo
This hairstyle is for anyone who wants a look that screams class. What is so great about this hairstyle is the volume and visual textures that are achieved. You will want to start out with a great blow dry. Whenever you are using any irons/blow dryers, always use a thermal protectant product like Salon Grafix’s 450 Maximum Heat Protect Spray. Take the front of your hair and smooth with a flat iron and, after you finish, tease your crown section gently with a comb. Then take the remaining portion of your hair and secure in a low pony with an elastic. Wrap small sections of your pony tail around a curling iron; the curls don’t have to be perfect—have fun and get creative! Finally, take each of your curls and pin at random with hairpins to create a tousled/woven bun.
Selena Gomez: Romantic Starlet

This look is great for girls with thick/medium hair texture. First, use a wave tool, such as the Sarah Potempa Beachwaver tool, or curling iron to create waves throughout your entire head of hair. Now split your hair into two large sections, as if you were making two ponytails, and secure with a sectioning clip. Tease the top of your hair/crown section and then pull it into a bun; secure with hair pins. Then twist the lower section of your hair and braid it to create a second bun on top of the other. Now go around and pull out soft pieces around the face to create a more undone look that would be at home on any red carpet.
Demi Lovato: Bouquet of Curls

This hairstyle is polished, stylish and will definitely get you noticed at prom! Everyone will simply love this look! Believe it or not, it is very simple and easy to achieve from home. First, blow dry your hair with a flexible mousse and tease the top section of your hair. Take a brush, I recommend one by Mason Pearson, and spray the sides of your hair and comb hair back into a low ponytail. Now take your curling iron and make small sections of the ponytail and curl each. After that, take bobby pins and randomly mix/create a beautiful shape, taking curls and looping them around, pinning them as you choose, almost braiding them. Pure creativity here, there are no wrong steps. Just have fun!
Miranda Cosgrove: Half Up, Half Down
Healthy and shiny hair is what makes this look picture perfect. A great way to prep and maintain healthy hair is to use a sulfate-free deep conditioner/cleanser; the Healthy Hair Nutrition line from Salon Grafix is perfect. These products will lock in your natural oils and give your hair beautiful bounce and shine! After you’re done with the treatment, blow dry your entire hair and use a 1 inch curling iron barrel to wave hair. Part your hair in the middle (like Miranda) or on the side—whichever you think looks best—and then secure the sides back with a bobby pin. You can also do a cute two strand braid or a twist to pull back the front. Finish with a hairspray and you are ready for a fun night of dancing, taking photos and making memories.
Which look do you like best?
